KGreene Pottery
Karl Greene is a British ceramicist whose journey with clay began in 1989 while studying A-level Art and Craft at Boston College in Lincolnshire under the guidance of tutor Eric Degg. That early introduction sparked a lifelong passion for the medium, which he continued to develop throughout his education and alongside a career in teaching that spanned over two decades. Now working from his studio on the East Anglian coast, Karl draws deep inspiration from the natural world around him—particularly the sea, which has remained a constant presence in his life and work. The coastline's beauty and magnitude find expression in his pieces, with fish, shellfish, and other marine forms featuring prominently among his creations. His allotment gardening also feeds his artistic vision, connecting him to the land and natural cycles that inform his practice. Karl's work spans both functional pottery and more sculptural, aesthetically-driven pieces. His signature glazes, including the distinctive Aaron blue, bring depth and character to forms that aim to reflect what he sees as the beauty of creation. Sustainability sits at the heart of his practice; he is deeply committed to recycling materials and minimising his environmental impact, powering his studio with renewable energy and reusing resources wherever possible. A maker guided by faith, curiosity, and a reverence for the natural world, Karl creates ceramics that are both grounded in tradition and infused with personal meaning.
